Scarf, Stole, Shawls, D&Y Scarves, Softer than Cashmere

D&Y Scarves – Softer than Cashmere – an interesting article

Fashion accessories like the scarf, Stole, Shawl and Bandana make an appearance in the fall, when winter is just setting in.  They come in various forms and designs. D&Y scarves have come out with a range “softer than Cashmere”, which is value for money.

A shawl is broader than a stole or a scarf. All three are fashion accessories made in expensive fabric, usually worn around the shoulders, or the head for warmth. Some of them have intricate hand embroidery work. They come in various fabrics, like acrylic,  pashminas, merino, alpaca etc.

History- Ancient Rome is said to be the place of origin of the scarf. They used the Sudarium, which was used to wipe the sweat. During the reign of the Chinese Emperor Cheng, scarves were used to identify officers and ranks. Scarves were also worn by the Croatian army around the 17th Century. The men’s scarves were called “cravats.”
